My Gaia doesn’t show the route touching Native American lands in the section.

That section where you go between sunset crater and strawberry crater is a very cool little section. It doesn’t see much travel so the cinders seem untouched. Lots of fun little ups and downs and banked turns.

Personally I would set up camp before you hit that section somewhere on the back side of the cinders and save that for a first thing in the morning run. Be a great section to wake up to.

Currently trying to see who is joining the group when and then going from there. I'm hoping for 9:30 AM meetup Friday morning as long as that works for those involved. Then we can catch up with the Thursday night campers between 10-11 as we travel Cherry Creek Rd.

I was just thinking about meal prep and fire restrictions came to mind. From what I read, Gila and Coconino counties are is Stage 1.

What's considered a 'developed campsite or picnic area'?

    Please check my 'math'.

Is the plan to have one of those in camp each evening, are they even available on the AZBDR or is it going be propane cooking’

Sorry for all the questions. I’ve spent the last 40 years in CA and only relocated to AZ last October.

My understanding is that there is no charcoal or wood burning allowed unless it is in a developed campground aka not where you guys are camping (must be government provided). Otherwise it had to have a shut off switch/ valve aka propane

    The official rules

I just bring a propane fire pit nowadays...takes up a ton of space, but I like a fire to drink my whiskey by when I'm out camping.

Same. Need something to stare at when it gets dark. And you don’t really need it for the heat. We grabbed on late last year and it’s perfect considering how often we are in fire restrictions.
