Looks great! You have the best color!

Yeah, the stuff you buy online or the stores is ok at best. The professional stuff is 10 times better. The first time I did my ceramic, I got it from a store for like 60$, was good for about 6-7 months. Now I have a permanent water based ceramic coating that needs a topshield applied every 6 months or so.

Nice titan by the way, how are you liking it? It’s got that 5.6 right? How’s the gas mileage?

Thanks, I ready some reviews online and narrowed my search down to this. Seemed to have good reviews, and mentioned protection against salt, which I found to eat a lot of coatings away. That and the easy of doing it yourself, along with mention of little streaks when wiping off. The key was using a lot of clean microfiber towels. I used 2 big ones. I medium and the smaller one it came with to do the entire truck. You could tell when it was time to switch the towel as it wasn’t catching the streaks/haze. This stuff was $65, didn’t really see anything in store that wasn’t more like a spray wax. Hopefully it works and last more than 6 months.

I love the Titan! It’s loaded, everything but the moon roof and cooled seats. Rides great, smooth, and has a lot of power. Yep 5.6 V8. Only option available now on them. It’s got a 9 speed trans that shifts amazing. No gear hunting like the Taco. That really made me hate my Taco. Gas mileage isn’t great but not far off from my Tacoma. High has been about 19 on the HWY. averaging 16.9. Mostly in the city and haven’t been babying it like I did with the taco. I like to hear the V8 roar. :D The taco I was averaging 17.4 pretty much same trips. Actually been doing more city driving with the Titan lately just cruising around. It’s a lot more truck and gets close to the same MPG.

    Nice!
    16.9 is great for a big v8!

Don’t they come with the Cummins there too? Or is it Canada only thing.

Cumming used to be an option in the XD however they discontinued it in 2020 I believe. Not sure if that applies to Canada

I am, and yes they do. Probably the best sounding exhaust from the factory on a pickup

True commercial ceramic coatings are not a gimmick. These should last many years with minor maintenance. Mine looks great after well over a year. Its guaranteed for 10. I've tried all the better wax's in the past on vehicles...they don't last plus after one good rainstorm they leave a white residue on any molding pieces. Being much older now, any waxing sucks. I can hop into a clean shiny truck all the time unless its winter. Don't need to worry about all the paint chips with this coating either like i had on my old tundra. That alone has been worth it to me.

What is the brand of the coating? I’m skeptical it can actually last 10 years and protect the paint from chips. Never even heard of military stuff that good. If it offered that much protection and lasted that long manufacturers would be putting it on from the factory. Paint shops would apply it after spraying a full car. Having worked in the automotive industry for 14 years most the products we sold with warranties like that, they usually were additional warranties and not easy to make a claim. Most people never kept the car that long, and out of the thousands of warranties that were sold that I knew of I think I remember hearing one time that someone was actually covered under a big claim. Half the products are given to the dealers for little or no cost. The companies make the money off the dealers up selling the warranties. I know the one company that used to supply us undercoating and protection products worked off that. And I believe the simonize glass cost was pretty much the same setup. That’s why we had so many cases of it laying around.

No coating unless it's ppf is going to stop rock chips. To even think a thin film of liquid applied to the paint that turns into a layer that is probably 10x thinner then 1 coat of paint will stop rock chips is just silly.
Optimum pro coating is a 7 year self healing coating that has to be installed by a licensed dealer is probably one of the best ones. No coating will last 10years unless you are topping it with a booster every month. Even then most will eventually get worn away by everyday life and washing.

I did my truck 2 years ago with Adam's Polish's Ceramic. It was very easy to prep the truck and apply and it off the charts good at keeping the truck clean. Dust, dirt, road spray all falls off with rainstorm or hose spray. The only downside is the depth of the shine. In my opinion a pure Carnauba like Dodo Juice Supernatural, of Blackfire has a much deeper rich shine, but no where near the longevity.

Simonize glass coat. Again it depends on the dealer, or franchise shop thats applying it. I can tell you quite a bit of paint prep went into my truck before the stuff was put on. Imo, they did a great job. Looked better than most wax jobs seen.
As far as any under coating or rust prevention, i did it myself with cosmoline rp-342 which also has been holding up well after a year.

We used to sell and apply simonize. And I can tell you for a fact it there’s not a chance it last 10 years. I used to put it on my F150 every 4 months because it wouldn’t last. You can strip any wax and clay bar it before and the results aren’t any different. The one thing I will say about simonize is after it’s applied, it really does have a smooth finish. You’ll notice however after a few months that is pretty much gone.

Well after more than a year i'd say its far from gone. Truck finish looks the same as the day it was done. Maybe they improved the treatment since you had it. Its not only a smooth finish, but very deep. I get stones pelting my truck everyday i drive on the dirt road i live off. So far not a single paint chip. You can see the stone dust where they hit, but they won't chip the surface like they did when i had my old tundra. I've even spoke to a couple that had it done on their toyota camry that was over 3 years now....said its the best stuff since sliced bread....would do it over again on the car they buy saying it'll add value.

IMG_3612.jpg IMG_3607.jpg I have full frontal, top of cab and tail gait PPF. Then I had it done with ceramic pro gold package which has a life time guarantee as long as I take it back ever 12 months otherwise it is then a 5 year guarantee. Yes it cost me a bunch but I keep my vehicles for 20+ years.

Will a shop remove emblems/badges before ceramic coating or will they leave everything in place?

    Thanks.

I may have missed it, but can the ceramic coating be applied over PPF film?

So just as a reference point, I've been a detailer a long time. I've used a ton of products.

My truck has been coated with CarPro UK 3.0 for 2.5 years. It's DEAD after 2 years. The truck has lived most of it's life outside, probably 70%, but has been very well maintained. Topped with other products religiously such as Reload and Elixir. The last couple months the paint has felt dry, even after a topper. The truck needs decontaminated, polished (barely any defects in the paint), and recoated.

This time around I'm going to use the new Gyeon MOHS Evo and Skin coating system. Gyeon Ceramic Detailer as a topper. Hoping for an honest 3 years out of it.

For you guys that are paying a shop to ceramic coat your trucks, and aren't maintaining them properly, you're really just throwing your money away. You'd be better off with some quick spray ceramic detailer used religiously (the stuff takes 10 minutes to apply). If you wanted a higher end product, look up Gyeon Cancoat.

That G8 is BADASS!!!!! I freaking LOVE that car! I had a 2006 GTO for a few years with the LS2 in it. I miss that car..... i've thought about getting a G8 at some point in the future. Definitely gonna be a collectors item so hold onto it! Beautiful!
