It sure is different well different for me between raising a GS 25 years ago and raising one today. I have learned quite a bit or I forgot quite a bit from back then.
His previous owner feed him Royal Canin and I just stuck with that.

Thanks Ian. I’m very happy I was able to bring him home with me. I’m still in a learning process about his personality but we work well together. We do make a good team.
I’ve taken him to the vet for a check up and all his shoots. Sent him to the groomer. He really looks good now.

My house is on a corner lot and the yard is fenced in on all 4 side. He loves being out side.
My next task is socializing him more. He doesn’t like other dogs and is 50/50 with people.
Thanks to everyone for the advice.

Learn its drive and use that drive. GSD's want and need to work and please you. Use positive reinforcement, using any else will set you back in your training, only if it responds to you negatively, should you do the same. You must be the dominant dog, and it must understand it place in the pack. I have trained my dogs following these videos, with an older dog it will take a little more time.

Cool. Thanks you. We have been working on the training. He's a smart dog and is doing well.
