thinking of getting a softopper and wanted to see if i could get some feedback here since i dont know anyone with one.

Any of yall keep it up 24x7 365? can you share pics of your "weathered" softopper?

Also - any pics of the "minimum" water that can get in with not going crazy trying to waterproof and seal every stitch?

lets hear some pros and cons.

my usage would be hauling hunting gear, dog, occasional camping and to look badass of course.

    Rollin' hydrocarbons!

Don't have any pics readily available, but I keep mine up all the time. It's a couple years old, has been through many wheeling trips and the previous owner used it for hunting with doggos. I even have a new back window to compare any color fade. And I don't see any. Mine is grey for comparison. I would recommend taking care of it. I purchased the 303 protectant convertible top cleaning/protecting kit. It's not too expensive and it works well. For the windows, I recommend Plexus and a microfiber.

I will say be careful with the windows in cold weather. They like to crack. That's how I ended up with a new back window. May just be better to zip it out if you're looking to roll it up in the colder months.

Really, the only downside is lack of security. It's easy to unsnap and reach an arm in. Other than that, it's one of my favorite truck purchases.

Edit: I forgot to add that it's been much more watertight than I expected. It's not perfect, but I can't think of anything crazy working its way in.

Never really had an issue with water, but dust gets in.
Some of the fasteners started rusting and need to be replaced, which shouldn't cost a lot tho.
My black softopper greyed out a little but I think with some cleaning it might be possible to get it back to look like new...maybe.

But I cant tell the age of my topper..it came with the truck when I bought it 3 years ago.IMG_8022.jpg

Pros: -easy to install by yourself or take off in a matter of minutes
    - relatively watertight even without any preventative measures

    Cons:
    - Unable to lock
    - Visibility is less if you have a long bed

yeah i keep trying to find videos and everything is like unboxing and installing. i like the idea of running it all the time, but also like the thought of just storing it during summer months when im not really hauling anything. finally, like the thought of being able to throw it up to haul the pup around on a rainy day. thx!

You kinda can folded it backwards like on an old convertible. It is still mounted but mostly out of the way.

oh and congrats to the purchase

Wanted a topper for the same reasons as you - hunting, camping, dog, etc. Bought a softopper last spring for the return of my cross-country road trip. I've never taken it off and actually never even sealed the stiches. Have been out in lots of weather and water has never been a real issue. I love it and am so glad I have it. Only downside is lack of rack at the moment. Been thinking about what I'm going to buy/build to put around it for hauling canoes and such.

You'll definitely love it. I had mine on for 24/7 for 3 years now exposed never garaged baked by Socal sun and after spraying it with stoner trim and shine looks like new again. Even the faded clear plastic that turned yellowish turns clear again. Used mine for csmping/ sleeping in the bed . To keep dust at bay I used this https://www.ebay.com/itm/233838714514 20210429_111936.jpg
