I know there’s a thread on this but I can’t seem to find it. The bracket here is slightly rubbing on the hose below it. I know I’ve seen a thread where the bracket is slightly ground off so that it doesn’t rub, I guess my question is can the bracket be removed to do this or is it a case of if I take it off to grind and paint is it going to be an oh shit moment?
    Thanks fellas.

You can probably keep it off, but for a few seconds w a grinder and a spritz of paint, it's worth keeping on. 2 bolts to remove it.

I wasn’t planning on leaving it off, just want to know if it’s ok to remove the bracket to do the grinding and painting. I’m planning on putting it back on after.
Revised my post to make that clearer.

Yeah totally. You're fine. I think it's just a support for the plenum, so it doesn't vibrate and crack after 100k miles or whatever.

Front of the engine. Just under the panel that has the Toyota logo. Find the alternator on your engine, then look left.

Just got done, took off just enough for clearance. The hose seemed ok but the bracket was shiny in that spot so I know that it was rubbing. Probably would have gone for years and been ok but like the fuel pump… peace of mind. 4EE0CC95-AC33-49F7-83EC-A3ABB3931D27.jpg3E230779-E9EF-4A14-8D17-AE2BF97D3859.jpgF74C0BA1-79E2-459C-9017-1780EFF84791.jpg

Mine had plenty of clearence when new. But with some life on it, and it started riding the bracket. Quick hit with grinder was the answer.

Built in repair? I dunno, probably will take a long time if at all to rub through but that’d be a trip stopper for sure.
FYI while I was pissing around in the garage up I also did the transmission cable bracket bend as that was rubbing also as well as topping off the battery with distilled water, a couple of the cells were close to not covering the plates.

Page 12, post #236 & 240, mine was rubbing but not too bad. I wrapped some tape around the jaws on a set of pliers and gave the bracket a slight twist underneath where the cable runs and all is well.

That braided sleeve may well be sufficient to prevent hose failure. :notsure: 3rd gens have been in service for 5 years now.

I would hope too, but that is a bad practice to let it rub a hose. The bracket has well defined edges from the notch they put in it at that bottom corner.
