Built me a winch bumper and camper shell

    Yeah, agree, thats probably not a bad idea, guess i should probably do that, i kind had my concerns about that. That would be easy enough to do.

    You can't really see it from those pictures, but it does have two additional 1/2 bolts on the bottom that run through the frame as well, i machined some threaded bushings about 1 1/2 deep and welded them to the back of those mounting pads. Figured if i ever got stuck good and had to winch on it hard at an upward angle, it would give me some additional support.

    Funny, I could have wrote this thread. I think we may be related.

    Check out my bumper and boat build in the bottom of my post. You might have to turn the phone sideways for it show.

    The similarities are eerie.

    Please join us in the " anything welding" thread. We have very few peeps with aluminum experience.

    Btw, I've been trying to decide what boat I want to build next. I'm strangely attracted to the "landing craft" style. I have some wheel chair bound family members. A drop down front would be awesome! If you have any info on those, I'd be forever in debt.
