Welp, 4 months later I finally did it. Started my initial dual battery setup using a 24DC battery because honestly I don't need much more than that. Have to add a VSR to connect both so alternator will charge my 2nd battery and also give me the ability to jump myself if ever needed. Also added a power panel in the rear for recharging any devices that I could have (2 USB C, 4 USB 3.0, 2 12v Sockets) with one of the plugs having a voltmeter so I can know battery life easily.

Using an Amazon $8 24DC battery tray that's bolted to a 14AWG steel plate that's mounted to 2 brackets to hold it in place. It's not my best work and I'll possibly finish it out nicer in the future but i'm lazy right now and it seems to be working fine so far. I've driven around with it without any issues and can manually try pushing around and it doesn't go anywhere so i'm content with driving around as is at the moment.

My truck has a "bug deflector". Do you think this would change the amount of air being inducted?

Nah I don't think it'll have any noticeable difference on it.

I spoke with Mike last week and he is in the process of updating his website. The tube is metal, boot is silicon type boot?

I was just curious if it was something other than aluminum.

No i believe it is Aluminum. The kit came with a rubber gasket/bushing that fit around teh hole that was cut, eliminates the "rattle". Would be cool to have a carbon fiber tube but I'm sure that would raise the price up significantly.

I bought one of those for my Jeep. Had to replace the non-CARB one that I had installed.

Like the idea but it sure is loud. Thinking about using some sound deadener but I may skip it because I'm planning on selling the Jeep.

I was thinking I would end up with more cab noise too, but I’m not noticing much difference really. Now to be fair, I had an AFE CAI setup so my brain properly already tuned out the “droning” noise it had and then add in the wind noise from my roof rack.

I can hear it more when I hammer the pedal but it’s not bad.

Mike mentioned it’s a lot more noisy on the jeep because of where the filter is?

So how many idiots have told you 'You're gonna blow up your engine doing that' since you've done the cowl induction mod? I'm up to 3 now.
I also got called a mall crawler because of it o_O

well honestly no one has told me that yet. Of course I haven’t told many I’ve done it either to be transparent. However now that I’ve made this post, I’m sure I may get a few comments. LOL

With no fender liners the intake needed attention. Thanks to everyone on here…good solution and super easy. A little more noise vs stock, but not loud.

I need to do something like this on my 3rd gen now that I ripped the fender liners out. Can't find a single example yet....

You could just run the pipe in the fender well to the cowl. There’s already a hole on the side. You just need to enlarge it.

I've done one for Gen 3, and it came out perfect. It is a more complicated job because the airbox is harder to plug into. You also need a flex connector for cowl attachment because the
tube comes in at an angle. I created TIG welded aluminum adapters to make all this easy. The end result is clean and the modifications to the cowl are very similar to Gen 2. This is probably not an appropriate conversation for this forum, but PM me and I might be able to help you out.

Go start this topic in the Gen3 forums - even though I don't own one, I'd like to see your work, and you might inspire others to do the same. :)

Please post it publicly. I have a friend with a 3rd gen that we're trying to come up with a solution.
