Starting to wish that I had got a 4x4 but I still love my truck. Does anyone know of any trails I could take my 2WD Tacoma on? I’m based in Pomona so anything around that works! Also any tips on what I should do to my Taco?

A decent set of all terrain tires will take you 90% of the places you want to go. Unless you're rock crawling or going mudding, 2wd will get you nearly anywhere you want. If you get serious, a rear locker and winch will get you through a lot. It might take a bit more effort than a 4x4, but you can do more than you think.

As said, get some good A/T tires.

If you start getting more in to offroading, I would definitely trade it in for a 4x4. While a locker does increase traction, a open diff 4x4 will get you much farther than a 2wd with a locker.

There are tons of trails and fire roads in So Cal. Being 2wd, you're going to be limited to the less technical trails, but as a beginner, that's better anyway. Just get some MVUMs (motor vehicle use map) for the Angels and San Bernardino NF, and go have some fun. If the trail/road gets too technical, just turn around. Ideally, go with friends (more than one vehicle), and for sure have a recovery plan (carry basic recovery/safety gear).
