There is 3 miles of dirt road to get to the pavement, sometimes I would find trees down at 5 am on my way to work. For years my daily was an XJ Cherokee, with a tow strap I could usually move the trees enough for the little Jeep to scoot by.

My oddest find on a rainy foggy morning was an odd looking "star" over a field in the distance -- as I got closer the star was actually a power pole on fire. There was no fire hazard as the pole was in a field and it was pouring, I called 911 and went on to work.

It was loud. My poor little dog jumped. Then I saw a flash just after the crash, which concerned me more. I thought maybe somebody's house was on fire from a lightning hit which is why I walked down the road to check. They are still out there cutting it up, just about 3 hours later. Luckily, there are two ways off this road, so we aren't stuck here.

That's what happened here. The township had the chansaws out to cut it up and backhoe to push it off the road, but the power comapny, Duquesne Light, was late to the game. Our road crew left. They put up some horses to block the road though. Duquesne Light sent about 3 vehicles about 20 minutes ago, so I imagine the road will be open soon.

Off to take Christian for his drivers license test… :fingerscrossed: looked over the lights in his 08 taco and the one license plate bulb was out:anonymous: reached under the bumper, pulled it out and was all corroded and one wire cut:eek: have no other light socket to swap out from my tool box… went to my 17 taco and pulled a front corner bulb out and socked fit onto the original connector of the 08 and fit into the hole of the license plate light! Repaired the broken wire and off we go:D

Hi Jerry, How are you doing? A shame about your Doxie. Any plans for a replacement? It's hard to find as good a pup as what you had. Hows the 07 doing?
Have a great day and be safe.

    Good luck for Christian :fingerscrossed:

Morning pa peeps. Last night lighting struck my next door neighbor house. Shook the whole house woke up sound like a semi ran into house. Scared the shit right out of me. No big damage to the neighbors house just a massive hole in his gutter. Looks lile someone took a hole saw to it.

Wow. That was one of my fears when I was younger. I live up on a little hill. Hope that's all is just the gutter, could be a whe lot worse , seen it run through the house wires before.

My junior year of high school, Sept or Oct of 1984. Watching a home soccer game in West Chester, one lonely bolt of lightning struck. About 20 yards in front of me and other spectators. Hit one of our players, Steve Erickson. Dead. That was one weird, tragic day!
    Lightening is no joke.

I bought that Stihl electric saw for cutting my in and out of the cabin road. Nice and light and always starts! So far, it has not failed to clear enough to get by. Not sure it would make a dent in the tree from your post though! Probably would need to hike in and grab the Husq. :)

Congrats to Christian. :woot:and on another note, no more chauffer duty for you

Pets are with us only a short time before they pass on and leave an emptiness in the home. That is one reason we don't have any pets. Glad the 07 is doing good. I miss the manual trans but with going in on the 17th of June for the knee replacement, it would be a while before I could drive it. New one is good except for the trans. I will probably end up getting the OV tune. Oher than that, life is good.

    Have a good one folks.
