I know there's a kit I can buy to make the backup camera viewable anytime, but it seems like I could do it with simply supplying or removing a ground (normally done by putting the truck in reverse) to make it happen. I only want to use it temporarily so I can get the dang truck all the way in a parking space without the rear bumper hanging over the line. I may eventually subscribe to TIS but I wondered if I could just get a copy of the wiring diagram here since that's all I really need. So, anyone?

Even if you have a wiring diagram, you're still going to have to do some splicing of wiring, plus adding a switch. I installed the simple Anytime Backup Camera harness ($46.63 delivered), plus the switch. That seems to be the practical way of doing it.

The camera has juice with head unit ON. Head Unit controls the camera Feed/video when reverse is selected.
Placing a switch to supply the "reverse" signal to the Head Unit would be a solution.

If that's all you want to do with it, why not just put the truck in reverse to check? That's what I do.

That's what I do now. Just looking for a little better option.

Personally, I wouldn't screw with modding the wiring or anything unless I was installing the front camera as well. Too easy to screw something up and void any warranties or cause other issues.

Dont fix it if it isnt broken. If you want some help possibly breaking it then run a switch inline between the reverse wire at the shifter may activate the camera input and display, if not you may be able to activate it at the radio. I dont advise it but here is your “easier” option

Reverse input (+) to pin 28 on connector R48 on Head Unit
Pin 15 is fused IGN to Head Unit.
