Serpentine failure 2012 TRD

So I had my second serpentine failure in 70k miles happen several days ago on my 2012 TRD Sport 4.0. Although after this one truck with turn over but not start. At the time I also had to replace coolant line due to damage when serpentine belt let go.

 

pictures? 2 belts in 70k tells me something isn't aligned correctly, maybe one of the pulleys isn't on straight or lined up appropriately??

mind you, I am no mechanical expert, but just from personal experiences, I've seen belts shred or give way prematurely because a crank pulley wasn't bolted all the way in

 

Also, I recommend taking off the belt and check each pulley for any sign of play/wobble: power steering pump/alternator/ water pump etc.

 

Buy OEM belts. I have had issues with aftermarket belts.

 

I would look at the pulleys.

 

Something is up with those pulleys.

 

also depends on environs

dirt …..sand......fine gravel dust are attracted to rubber belts like magnets

if not washed properly lead to premature failure

offroading on gravel roads

sand pits...….beach

fire trails

can introduce contaminants
