I'm looking for my next vehicle - a Tacoma!

I've always loved Tacomas, especially the older ones (1st gen), and I've heard so much about their reliability. I'm looking to buy one in the next month or so, but I don't know exactly what to look for. Here's what is important to me:

- I am looking for a truck that I can put a camper shell on and do stealth camping (1-3 nights) near some of the rock climbing and whitewater kayaking destinations that are too far to make day trips out of.

- I am 6"3' so I'm not sure all of the bed lengths will do it for me. Is there a 1st gen with a bed that long?

- I would want to have racks ON TOP of the camper shell for carrying kayaks.

- I don't mind driving manual.

- Heavy duty off-roading is not a priority for me, and it rarely snows where I live (TN). So, I don't thinkkkkkk I would need 4x4, high clearance, offroad tires, etc.

- I'm looking in the $8,000 - $12,000 price range

Any advice, tips, etc. on what to look for would be very appreciated. Thank you!
