My "Ok Google" only works consistently when I use the button on the steering wheel. It hardly ever works when I simply speak to it.

I can initiate a call, or a text, but then it craps out. It acts like it doesn't hear my voice when i speak to enter the body of the text.

I have tried many fixes, including:
    1-Removing phone, and re-pairing
2-Uninstalling and re-installing AA, Android Messages app
    3-Cleared all caches, data

    My set up:
    Samsung Galaxy s21 Ultra 5g
    Android 11
2020 TRD Sport 2wd DC with JBL system

If anyone's is working correctly, could you post some screen shots of the applicable settings in both AA, and on the head unit of the truck?

Thanks very much, this has been driving me crazy.

I assume you have your phone plugged in via USB as it's the only way AA works?

I "think" that "ok google" doesn't invoke AA... only the steering wheel button does. If you say "ok google", i believe that works through the phone directly, bypassing the head unit and AA.

And if you are not plugged in via AA, and use the button to text someone, that uses the head units system to create a speech to text message. Completely separate from the AA system.

And what's weird, ... if you have the USB plugged in to use AA, the JBL speech system is turned off.

Yes, I am plugged in via USB to AA. I have had my voice trigger the AA on the head unit. Its just very intermittent. I always use the steering wheel button to initiate a message, but then it won't recognize the text i'm trying to send.

Lastly, what do you mean the JBL system is turned off? Mine works fine when plugged into AA.

    Thanks.

The JBL system has its own speech-to-text interface that works separately from the Android auto system. But it doesn't work if you have Android auto running.
