I have a clear squeak ONLY in reverse. I'm assuming it's Ujoints but I've greased all the fittings and can't find any play anywhere. So now what? Is there any way to narrow down which one is the bad one? Or could it be something other than Ujoints?

    How do I check that?

The only GOOD way to check the universal joints is to remove the drive shaft and actually manipulate each joint manually. The worn joint should be obvious when you find it.

Just because you greased it doesn't make it go away. Did you actually see grease coming from all four caps on the joints? The worn section may not have gotten any of the grease as the passage may be clogged. Rotational squeak usually ends up being a joint.

If your pinion seal is leaking that could lead to somewhat of a noise troubleshooter

Went back under and greased again and this time paid more attention, grease is only coming out of 3 joints. So I'm assuming that 4 junction is the problem one? And dues that mean it's gone, the only fix is replacement?

Had the same issue. Problem was U-joint, which required replacement.

If you do replace them, go with the Spicer replacements. They are better quality

Your probably right but my first inclination would be to blow a quick burst of air through that zert. You may have just have a simple clog that requires a little more persuading that a grease gun can offer. It’s probably been like that a while.

Usually if it is making noise it is already toast and should be replaced. The greasing is just a troubleshooting step before removing the drive shaft to actually check each universal joint. If one is defective replace all three as the others are usually not far behind.

Mark the drive shaft to keep it in phase when you take it apart, so you should not need to rebalance it. I orientate my zerk's all pointing the same also, it makes it easier when you service them.

Plus One on doing the carrier also. Do all 3, and your done for a long time. Did mine about 8 years ago....

Ok, thanks for the info. A few questions:
Best place to buy from? And do I buy 3?

Is there a preferred carrier bearing? And same as above, best place to buy from?
