seal the below-grade portion of the posts and put some metal weedwhacker guards (or glue porcelain tiles) at the ground line… it’ll buy you an extra 5-10 years.

Yeah, I am separating my back yard from my back 40, got a new puppy and need to contain it until it's trained. You have a real nice yard there too.

Last bit of pipe origami , tied the downspout tight pipe to the perimeter drain lead so we can plumb it all out in one pipe

Interior grade compacted to finished sub-grade elevation , exterior at a couple inches below final exterior grade for construction , will grade to final heights at landscaping stage

I like things green too, backyard is setup for cooking and just hanging out. Chickens live in the back 40, here is a pic of it. We have happy chickens too and a skunk sometimes.

I live in California but don't hold it against me. I took out my lawn and put in a drought garden. Just in time too! It'll look a lot better in a year when the plants grow out. My cactus is supposed to get to 16ft. All drought resistant but got to water them this year till the establish themselves.

We were debating the net, but we also envisioned waking up one morning to a raccoon/possum tangled up and either A) really pissed off or B) floating in the pond. We ended up painting some cinderblocks black and putting them at the bottom of the pond for shelter, and then our potted plants sat on top of them

    We have cinderblocks also. Lol.

We had a pet squirrel that would try walking on the net that we worried about for a while. Havent had anything happen though. Wild frogs/toads/crawfish have found their way to it also

You could submerge a 4x8 sheet of 2"x2" SS grate on top of the cinderblocks

We’re getting water in the house again from around the gas line coming in to the fireplace. The guy that installed the gas logs put silicone around the pipe where it came through the block on the outside. I dug it up 4 or 5 years ago and put hydraulic cement around it and that fixed it the first time. Now I get to dig it back up, but this time I’m going to paint foundation sealer around it. Any recommendations on what type and brand? I’ll probably put down some new plastic also.

I'm not sure if this helps you, but when I repainted our house this spring I used Drylock all around the lower perimeter of the foundation of the house. I used the regular sanded grey version. https://www.homedepot.com/p/DRYLOK-...ment-and-Masonry-Waterproofer-27613/100165469

Moisture isn't a really big issue here in AZ, but it does help seal up the house and prevent the paint from peeling off over time if and when it does get wet.

I use fluid applied flashing for penetrations.

Clean out the hydraulic cement, clean the pipe surface and use a polyurethane sealant. That will bond to the block and the pipe but stay flexible enough to take any movement. Silicone was not a good idea and hydraulic cement is too rigid.

Any way u can redirect the water away from the hole with some flashing?
That would help your sealant job’s longevity

I may try that also, I don’t like having to dig this hole out. It’s probably 24”-30” underground.

Pulled out a 20 year old Pella Precision Fit Designer Series double hung window and installed a Sierra Pacific H3 Transend Awning window. Improved view and much better thermal performance.

If you're digging it up anyway , use a fluid applied sealant or similar but back that up with a piece of dimple board (like Superseal ) from grade to below the penetration and a foot or more to either side . That will break any hydrostatic pressure on the penetration
