Wish I had seen this post both before I installed my Bed cover and also before I brought it to the dealer. I’m sitting in the waiting room now waiting to figure out what I think I already know. Lol

Check engine light came on this weekend after installing the bed cover and widening the drain holes . Brought it to the dealer because I only have 1400 miles on it. They said just a gas cap so I left and went sown the street and filled up the tank. That’s when I saw the gas poring out from under the truck. I’m betting the filler neck as well since it didn’t leak for long and leaked before the engine was on.

    Feeling pretty stupid now lol.

I have screwed up so much of my shit trying to save a buck that's it is ridiculous. Screwed up my boat water pump today by cranking down a bolt and stripping the threads inside the pump. That's gonna cost me $400.

I’m in the process of the same repair for the same reason but I can’t figure out how to disengage the yellow fitting connecting the skinny vent tube to the fuel tank. Can someone PLEASE enlighten me?!?

Success! These specialty pliers were the trick to disengage that yellow connector. Pinched the sides and the tube slid right out.

That sucks man .. personally if you have not messed with fuel lines .. I would take it to a shop to have it done . Expensive lesson but will save you money if u don’t know what you are doing changing out fuel lines .

Fortunately, it wasn’t a high pressure fuel line. It was simply the filler hose the runs from the gas cap to the tank. It was a tedious but very doable repair. The part cost about $90. So, even adding the specialty pliers I needed to buy, the total cost was only about $110 and a few hours of my time.

    Hello McDowell,
Can you please explain the process of doing this? What steps you took and what to watch out for. I have the same issue and was wondering if you can please help me. Thank you so much!

For anyone wanting to drill holes into the bed without hitting anything, why not try drilling it from underneath?

I apologize for not replying sooner. I hope you’ve solved it by now. Let me know if you haven’t and I’m happy to find time for a call to answer any questions.
