Typical rust?

Are these surface rust common with Tacos? I’m have the truck since last November and I’m in California. Thanks

 

Yep, thats a unpainted surface so it will rust. It will also take 30 years in the ocean to even start to cause a issue there.

You’re fine. My 2016 that’s spent five winters in NY would make you guys out west lose your minds.

 

Also in Ny. My lower control arms look like they have been dipped in the ocean compared to the photo above!

 

I live a couple hundred yards from the ocean and drive through ocean spray almost every day. Fluid film keeps the rust away.

 

Yeah, those areas are thick heavy unpainted steel. Probably last a century like that. Its all the thin painted metal chassis components like the brake backing plates, and the frame that will rust really bad in a few years if not protected with a rust inhibitor like cosmoline or fluid film.

 

Wow. Mine doesn’t look like that. 2017 SoCal taco too. Anyway, it doesn’t look too bad. Maybe been to big bear ? Road salt does that too.
