Well TW, the time has come. We lost our beloved Moose on Mothers Day (some of you may recall me bumming out the entire forum). Today we have the opportunity to give a rescued shelter dog a new life with us, and I could not be more excited. Although it is bittersweet since we still mourne Moose, the new guy needs us, and we need him. This here's Roy and he comes home today.

He was so tired after his romp this morning he plopped down to drink.

He's a rescue that was abused & had no social interactions so we have a long road with him but baby steps.

you are KILLING me with these pics!!! In 2 years, when we get out of our current very small townhouse, I will be getting more huskies, and GSD's, and they will DEFINITELY be doing this with me on my fat bike too!!!!

yep! We have rescued 5 GSD's over the past 20 years with the same issues, and all but one turned out great. The one was fine around humans, but not other dogs. He never got to the dog park, but was fine with the dogs at home, so they had the backyard. Guys and gals like that need patient and loving humans to undo the damage that the human turds do...

@str8edgMTBMXer that is wonderful that you've been able to help so many or at least give a loving & helpful home to so many.

We don't know a lot about this guy's background--both the rescue group & foster parents were very vague with us. After ~5wks the foster dad reached out to see how it was going & shed some more light. Was at least verbally abused & had no social interactions with other humans or dogs. Foster parents live out in the woods and had him a chuck of thr pandemic so he got no help from them either. We really like thr third trainer we went to and will continue using her.

I could go on but it could be a full chapter.

Reminds me of something my grandfather said when I was a kid. “I don’t want to sleep like a baby, I want to sleep like a hound dog.”

    He was a wise man.
