If we get specific, I’d say 1st and 2nd gen, if not addressed, will rust. This is worst rust I’ve seen on a 3rd gen.

3rd gen is just as bad. All the same materials/parts.

I’d say to early to determine. If you live in area with snow/salt, you should do your due diligence and prevent it from getting THIS out of hand.

That is just crappy heat treating and a Toyota defect rust or no rust.

I can't believe people STILL give Toyota a pass on poor metallurgy when it comes to springs. It's not like their leaf springs are quality either.

OP, as others said, this looks like neglect from the environment you live in. But from the pics, you have a ton of other shit that’ll need replacing when you do the springs, and probably other shit coming if you don’t address that rust.

To the OP, where do you live?
I had a radflo coil over spring break on me. No where near like yours, but i noticed a crack. I like the suggestion to call Fox directly.

look at all the nuts, splines / threads from ball joints, upper & lower control arms, plus frame. Everything is kinda fucked, and going to get worse unless addressed.

Yes, and built to Toyota's specs and price point. And in the end, they should be covered by the manufacturers warranty.

    No.

Basic warranty is 36 months or 36,000 whatever comes first.

Rust is rust, but it will NOT cause a spring to break unless it's like 50 years old. I've had some rusty old shitboxes and NEVER had a spring break. Beat the crap out of them too.

Couple thoughts: first, even if the dealership turns you down consider pursuing with corporate if you truly think you have a case.

Second, OP’s already taken enough criticism, so let’s focus on getting him some potential part numbers for replacement coils. And stop beating him up. He spent all of a second talking about his pursuit of a warranty replacement. It’s not like he’s asking for a new Pro and going on like a brat.

Several people have tried to source new OEM spring for the pro suspension. All have failed. eibachs new trd pro lift kit is the closet we have to a replacement spring right now, but its not ready yet.

Wow this is crazy. Yeah source the springs possibly from eibach. Also, maybe OP didn’t buy the truck new?

A few questions for all here. Do these springs have a mfg date code and could they have been made earlier and been sitting rusting somewhere under the coating prior to install? Certainly doesn't explain the excessive rust on the other components. But still something to look into, possibly

Also, OP, have you driven on beach and in ocean water areas? and did you spray wash after? That amount of rust in a short time to me looks like what happens when you are in or near salt water.
