Btw, just as a recommendation for some looking at this simulator (excel).

Here is one that is handy to play the "what if"

That annualized return is 4%. Pretty horrendous.

Hello, Marc70! Borrowing or taking a loan to invest can be a good option, but I recommend you to go this way if you have plan B and didn't fall into debt and bankruptcy. For the first steps, I recommend you invest with money you already have and borrow some money later if you see that your investment is working properly. Also, I suggest you look at authorized investment news-related sites like https://investorjunkie.com/ before making your steps in the investment market.

This is nothing. I don’t think it’s even down 10% yet.

Asking for investment advice on a truck forum is like asking for legal advice on a garden forum. Bovine manure will likely be incorporated into all the replies.

I had to laugh at this comment.

There are some interesting replies...some of these members are actually speaking the lingo and providing data sheets to prove their points.

One guy in this thread said he has Roth IRAs for like 20 years and they're worth more than what he started with...that's good, right?

It's a good idea to diversify assets...I have Traditional IRA and Roth and found out I can only put Max $7K (I'm 55 so I can go 7) into both...combined! I was willing to do both at that amount but I guess that was aggressive (in a good way).

So I manage both via phone calls to both companies and ask questions...their advice can be acted on once processes are explained and of course money is available to move into Fund. Plus, it's free!

All good info...and hopefully, no Bovine Manure. lol

Who revived this old thread????? o_O

He no longer needs advice. if he went with his gut he would be somewhere between +45-75% with just basic indexes (TSX, SPY QQQ) (TSX cause hes Canadian) minus the interest expenses.

    +143 on Apple
    +280% on Ford

    the list goes on.

    that said, update? :D

This did not age too well.. It's tanking... hope you got in at the right time.. which is not near anytime soon considering we are facing multiple global economic issues.

How does the borrowing to invest strategy look after the past couple of weeks? Not too good!

Is a lift and 33’s considered an investment?

Then yes, borrow from whomever and wherever you can. Family in town? Ask for cash. Friend on the phone? Ask for cash. Stranger peeing at the stall next to you? Ask for cash!

I did this back in very late 90's, borrowed about $80k against credit cards at 0% interest. Then the dot com bust happened. Took me about 5 years to pay back the $20k in the hole I went. I don't recommend it, especially if you are paying interest on the money.

Only if there's some investment that's high return and low risk should you do that, it's not wise for you to invest a loan in stock market.
