My dealership offered me $2400 to replace my leaky power steering rack. I spent I think $300 on a new rack and better bushings and put it in myself. That was the same day they offered me the low low price of $650 to change my tranny fluid. I laughed hard at that one. I don't think they like me too much anymore.

In Canada the full shaft with u-joints and CB for a gen2 is 1300$ CAD just for the parts. The install of a full shaft is mostly how long it takes to put the truck on a lift… dealerships don’t like fixing the shaft or any components on it. Only full replace. Driveline shops will gladly fix just components but tend to prefer brands and suppliers they are familiar with…

People on here don't understand that not everyone wants to or can crawl under their truck to work on it.

Find a local driveline shop or repair shop to do the work. Order Spicer u joints and CB and pay the labor to have them installed. Should be 1/4 of the price the dealer quoted you.

There are some pretty good videos of this job on YouTube maybe check a few of those out if you haven’t already. You could get the parts and all the tools you need and come in under 500 bucks. If not just find a local shop with a good reputation and go with there part supplier. It will probably be Napa and those are ok. Same thing should apply though in no way is this a 2500 dollar job.
