    Hello All,

I just recently found this community as I just became a Taco owner. I tried searching the forum to see if this question had been asked before so I apologize if I somehow missed it. I just recently bought my Silver 2017 TRD Sport Taco and I love it. I have always wanted a Taco and I feel like this one is perfect for me. I'm currently sitting at about 42,000 Miles on it. I have seen some reports of the 2017's having transmission issues so that's why I'm considering the extended warranty. I currently work for an employer where I could get the extended warranty at $20 above cost but that's still $1,000ish out of my pocket. So would the warranty be worth it in your guys experience / opinions? Or should I just risk it for the biscuit and trust that Taco reliability? Thank you for any input you guys have I really appreciate it as I need to make this decision in less than two weeks as I'll be leaving this job and have to pay way more for the warranty if I do it later.

Break downs can happen at anytime with any product.

Make sure it has had all the recall work done.

Consider the truck has 42 Kmiles. It is most likely through any early infant type failures.

Otherwise, the only effective defense against break down is maintenance.

Do you have a record of the truck's previous service history?

Frankly, I'd take the money and save it for future maintenance or breakdown costs.

You should be fine without but if you want a piece of mind not a bad idea considering it's not a ton of money. I think most of the transmission issues were from a gear hunting shifting / sluggish view rather than it actually breaking down. Some people have had different issues though.

I've had my 16 Sport for 5 1/2 years (49K) and have had no issues most people seem to have. Just keep fluids clean, changed when needed or from a proactive standpoint and you should be fine.

Only you can decide if it is worth it to you. If you cannot sleep at night worrying about your truck breaking down and not being able to afford the fix, then do it. I personally would take that money and put it into an emergency fund account and not touch it unless something breaks. The odds are in the insurance company's favor that you will never use the extended warranty; they would not sell them otherwise. It's kind of like gambling; the house always (or maybe I should say usually) wins!
