Years ago a friend, a factory plumber, found himself short of hours and money.
He went and got his city license and built a part time business on just that - keep your word and do good work.
Today he owns his own successful full time business.

I text another guy that my friend mentioned, he said he'd be by this afternoon.

 

If you can find a work crew, ask the lead guy if he does side jobs...i found a guy like that, used the same crew, tools and supplies, was 50% cheaper than going through the company

 

Poll - I don't know of a single residential house up here that has a metal roof. They're all shingled. We have some metal on campus and commercial buildings have them but it's never made the jump to residential.

 

Steel is the way to go (as long as it's not exposed fastener); is that standing-seam or 'A frame' snap-together?

 

I redid our store roof a few years ago with tin with the help of some friends, they wouldn't let me pay them so my wife made them all a gift card for the store. None of them have tried to use them. It cost us less than $2,000 to do that roof. It's about the same size as the house but the house is too steep for me and I'm not getting any younger.

 

There is now a company making tin shingles. Instead of wrestling a huge sheet of tin, you just lock the tin shingle in the one below it and screw it down.

Yep... local company was paving a driveway across from my place; needed a patch job where i'd had to replace a leaking water main. When I called for quotes no one would touch it because it was too small, but the charge hand across the street send a barrow load of asphalt, roller and a minion over to sort it out for a box of beer!

 

Are winds an issue in your area?
