I have lift envy. Am I too small?

    Howdy all,

So, if following my build I had leased my Taco as a second vehicle. I put a spacer lift just for looks on it. Now I love it so much I am going to buy it and put a real lift on it.My problem is every other truck I see seems to be higher than mine. I have a 6 lug SR5 V6 2WD. It has the 3” spacer and 285/65r16’s but still seems like it could be higher.

So, my question is, am I just imagining it and have an inferiority complex and need to make up for eh, something? Or does a real suspension lift like an Icon coil over conversion actually give a bit more height?

If I am just crazy when I put in a real lift (looking at foam cell) that say estimated 2-3 inch lift will I actually be going down?

If your getting 3" right now, you're really not going much higher unless you use a spindle or drop bracket lift. You have the benefit of no CVs to worry about, but you can still suffer from axle wrap if you end up lifting it a ton.

You can adjust those to be between 2 and 3”. Compared to the spacer lift it’s probably going to be sooo much better if a ride that you won’t care about .5” or so. I’ve got the same life- foam cell pro, on mine and love it. Rides much better than the off road suspension. I think my pic here is after I went from 3” to 2.5ish lift to get rid of some stiffness from the lift, e rated tires and spc uppers.

Not a fan of a lift with no functional purpose. But that's just me.

So on your 2wd using a spindle lift up front retains your compliant suspension.

Multiple options for the rear are available.

I wanted to improve the ride quality and ride quality with weight in/on the truck. Height was only a second. And I went the height I wanted not what everyone else is doing. Of it works for them, then great. If having a "tall" truck works for you or that's how you think the truck should like. Then do it.

So, to answer your question. No, you won't get much more height out of the "real suspension" but you will get a really nice riding truck.

It could also depend on the new lift you get. I installed OME BP-51s which are marketed as 2 inches of lift. I got about 4 inches of lift once it was installed.

Constantly, my last day at my job is Friday. But I am still confused on lifts.

I just was not sure if the lift they claim is the actual gain you get in ride height after install. Also I always think the 4WD models are higher, but the specs online say the clearance is the same. I like big, like my mastiffs. o_O

Maybe I am high?? I also don’t understand the hate for chrome. Is a chrome emblem or around an a/c vent akin to 22” spinner rims and trim all over an 88 lowered Cadi Deville?

Full OME BP-51 kit with the heavy (600#) leafs and coils. I took copious measurements before and after installation. I have a hidden front hitch and winch mounted, heavy ass AGM battery, aluminum full skid set, roof rack, tonneau cover, bed rack, and rooftop tent on top.

There's a mistake in your calculations. As your stock suspension isn't designed to carry these loads constantly, they sag, especially in the rear.
The stock measurements are 20" front 22" rear.

Since you now have a proper suspension that lets the rear sag less even with load, you are ending up with 2.25"/3.375" of front lift as well as 1.5625"/2.5" lift in the rear.
Not sure why your left and right are so off, normally after install you can adjust to compensate for "taco-lean", did you install them yourself?

Definitely true. I was sagging quite a bit on my before measurements. Lift was installed by a shop. As you can see, I park in a parking garage at home so I have no space to work.

No noticeable lean in the car. I now have an 8 gallon water tank and my fridge on the passenger side that evens out the lean even more.

Looks like it is just as high as any other truck with 3" lift.

Take the steps off and the bull bar and it will look higher - trust me. Those things really bring the side and front profile down.
