My 2014 reg cab Tacoma was making an odd noise when it leaned to the right. The squirrel cage was having water dripped or poured on it. I took the cowl off and checked to see if water was getting in from he top, and it looked dry. I pulled the carpet up to see if any other areas were wet, but only the passengers floor board.5799A318-E30A-4584-BA87-2B70A501B3C1.jpg

I took the drain hose off and blew air through it. it was clear and no water came out when I removed the hose. When I removed the squirrel cage, water dripped out of the first screw I removed, and I could see moisture in the vent towards the center of the dash

I then removed, what I think is a thermostat chip, from its slot next to the squirrel cage 89B00149-E01F-46F7-968F-6E8FFD78695A.jpg

As soon as I removed the chip a decent amount of water came rushing out of the drain tube, but not from the hole the chip inserts in 1EA1E584-6F02-4B2D-AA5D-C4578B772285.jpg
10 minutes earlier the drain tube was dry, so how did removing that chip release the water?

any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m hoping to fix the water leak but am stumped as to what is actually going wrong.

    So...
FYI , that "chip" is the resistor pack that controls the speed of the blower motor.;)

It sounds like your air box has a lot of dirt and other things clogging the air box up.

Maybe one of those mirrors on a stick or a fiber optic cams would be a good idea .

Give it a "good look see' and a blasting with the air hose?

You do run the cabin air filter ? I removed my filter the other day, It had a ton of junk stuck in it.

thank you! I did run a camera into the mixing box and there is some junk in there. We replace cabin filters after every couple rides and they are always trashed. It was just odd to me that a liter of water came out as soon as I pulled that resistor. It seems to be fine since I put it all back together.
