OP, do you now have two codes, the original P2441 and now P2440?

Also, if you are still possibly subject to the Customer Support Program linked in Post #4 earlier, your best bet would be to try and take advantage of the necessary replacement being warrantied by Toyota. I know you said that you were given the run around but did not say if that were at the dealer level or corporate level and did not explain the nature of the run around.

I am going to recommend you give it one or more attempts at different dealers. Try revealing what city, state or general area you are located and create a new post asking if any members here know of any customer friendly dealers who have addressed the same issue P0440, P0441, and P0442 code, as you may likely see the P0442 code next.

I would also suggest you revise the thread title. The title says Secondary Air Filter. To most regulars here that would mean to them the charcoal filter, located immediately next to regular air filter on the V6.

The problem at hand though is the Secondary Air Injection System that consists of an air pump and filter (as you have discovered) and then downstream from that pump two valves that open or close for a short while whose basic function is to help heat up the catalytic converter at start up.

The reason I inquired about the added code is when those valves begin to stick from carbon a code will be generated that puts the engine in a limp mode.

I don’t have the money for anything. Does someone want to buy a truck?
