I just got home after a short (20 minute) drive, walked around to the back of the truck to unload something and noticed a burnt rubber smell. It wasn't super strong and I only caught it that one time, but my wife noticed it too. I've got less than 6K miles on it, and I did just have an oil change and tire rotation a couple days ago. I'm sure it'll be one of those annoying things that happen once and then go away, but what are the potential causes of a burnt rubber smell in the back of the truck?

Is your truck a manual trans? Burnt clutch smells like rubber to some, or burning paper to others. A little slipping of the clutch in reverse could cause you to get a whiff of burnt clutch smell
