It's gonna still be slow. I ran 5.29s on 295/70/17, a true 33, for a couple months before I went 35's. It was glorious.

I figured itd still be slow, maybe shouldve gone with 4.88s since I only plan to do 285/70r17
But right now im on 4.56s with a 265 and its glorious besides highway speeds

Meh you just get used to it. I have 5.38s and 39s. Best thing you can do is cut back on rotating weight if possible. Just going from Nitto 40's to BFG 39's I saved like 20lbs per tire. Made a big difference in ease of cruising on the highway

Push the pedal harder. Let it breathe at 3500-4000 rpms lol. Mine feels fast on 39s (over 110 lbs a wheel/corner) and 5.29s

Feels fast compared to what? An air cooled VW Bus?

You guys are expecting to much lol. 39s, 8psi and 70 down the road. 60-65 going up a short grade all with a power robbing automatic.

If you want fast, swap in something with a Ls with a turbo or blower or get a tow rig and leave the Tacoma for a weekend toy. What do you expect from a sub 200 hp motor lol stop worrying about mpg and go for smiles per gallon. Way more fun.

I've had 5.29s on 35's for 3 years. I would never use the word fast to describe them. Driveable? Yes. Fast? No. lol

Regearing to 5.29s and maybe later on throwing some nice aluminum rims on the truck sounds like a plan to make it drive a ton better. Less rotational mass would make a ton of difference for me since my rims are close to 36lbs. SCS F5s would bring me down 15 pounds a wheel. Might just do that either way since my truck shakes like a paint shaker above 75

This is kind of where I'm at. I don't really care about flying down the road at 80 all day long, I just want the drivability to solid.

Not all aluminum rim are lightweight. Some are even heavier than steel. The lightweight bend fairly easy on rock and pot hole.

Meh, my F5's have taken a beating and are rock-rashed real good. Slammed them pretty good on plenty of pointy rocks.
Maybe if you're rolling on low trail pressure on the highway and hit a pothole or something, but doubt it.
That's also why we carry spares....

Agree, my F5s have held their own against boulders. Slammed them pretty damn hard.

Very true, but there are a lot of factors that go on behind the scenes in the build process of wheel.

I'm not going to go cheap and just hope it works out. Plenty of people out here in NorCal run Stealth Custom Series and wheel pretty hard so I'm confident that they're with stand the trails I run.

Nice job with the flares. Truck just looks tough with 35’s.
