Good Morning Cool Old Dudes & Susan

Today Stitch goes in for his Bilstein 5100s that have finally shown up 3 months later.
Get him back tomorrow after alignment.

Run down to base to get Kristi's retiree dependent ID renewed. Stock up on some stuff at commissary while down there and convenient. Hoping I might randomly find some ammo at BX...you never know these days.

    Great pics Mark ! :101010:

Have a great day, be safe, healthy, and happy!

    Respect :oldglory: GBA

If you do not mind wasted paint a sprayer does a decent job. I have on of the Wagner sprayers that I use on furniture. You need either a large area or a big drop cloth for the overspray.

I am not a fan of Stolen Valor but if he was a mental case just best to walk away.

Not too bad of a job. Once the job is done the roller goes into the trash. Brushes are easy and I use a pan liner for the roller pan. Of you use a plastic bucket for brushwork you can let the paint dry in the bucket then flex the bucket and the paint should just peel of the plastic in big sections.

I tend to do multiple light coats from all 4 sides, let it dry then flip the piece of furniture over and hit it from the bottom. An Adirondack chair poses a problem where the back and seat meet. I small brush, 1in, with little paint can usually do in between the slats at the area when the back and seat meet. I also use a paint made for outdoor wooden furniture.

Kurt: I hear you on the rocks. The rocks you are using cost $40 a bag at The Stone Store near me. The Stone Store was the only place I could purchase blue river rock stone the same size you are using. The transformation you and your wife did is remarkable.

I have the irrigation system guy come over today to fix a leak in the main feed line to the solenoid box. Must have taken a hit from the lawn aeration last September but just gave out last week. That section of pipe is always under pressure. I will finish up the garage today by the time i finished putting up 25 pounds of peaches yesterday I was just too tired to deal with the heat in the garage.

My son put together a box to store my wood clamps in for a Fathers Day present. It is much appreciated, the box cleaned up a real mess.

I need shocks on my Tacoma and will do the Bilstein's to replace the stock Toyota shocks. I will say that the stock Toyota shocks for the 2WD Tacoma worked really well.

Good to read this Tom. I don't think I've ever read or heard a negative review on them. Have a friend who went the 5100 route on his Tacoma Off Road and was very pleased with the result, that convinced me to go with them. Actually using the same shop that did his shocks and tires.
Thanks for the input, appreciate you. :fistbump:

EDIT: I should add I haven't had any issues with OEM 4600s...just giving Stitch a little more trail worthiness. With going out to my friends cabin regularly year round, I feel the investment is worth it. The current shocks will only have 32K on them, probably offer up on craigslist locally at a reasonable price, as long as they check out and appear to have some life left. :notsure:

It was so hot here that the local balloon festival this last weekend only launched one day. But the whole thing was much bigger, more people, and they even had carnival rides this year.

Went on a great, short trek yesterday just east of Salina. From the I-70 frontage road to Anthony Flats/Willow Creek Road and then down the mountain. The aspen groves are amazing. It looks like late August up there, though. The grass is already grazed down as though it is late summer. I'd bet there will be a lot of skinny cows by the end of the summer.

I’m going to have to use Q-tips with paint To fill in the screw holes. They stick out like a sore thumb. Then I need to make a very thin long handled brush to get in the places that are impossible. I will not be defeated. LOL

I've accumulated a pair of 5100's for my '14 and a half inch spacer for the left and a quarter for the right. My outfit has the "lean" pretty bad. Will just use the lower groove as my 32 inch tires clear just fine. But........ its too hot here to consider a garage project. Maybe later this year.

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning and Happy First Friday Porch People! We are living today in hopes of a strange, lost cold front! Could get the temp below 90*, and might bring some rain!

You will conquer this painting thing yet, Mr. Mike! Since everyone is helping you along, I will too! Cheap, disposable foam brushes between the slats for the win!

More rocks Tom! Off to Lowe's this AM to pick up a dozen more 30 lb. bags. Not as cheap as the bulk places, but almost (only $12 a bag), and they are polished with "sunshield"! You can see the shiny ones in there - had intended to be cute and make that look like a wet path. Wife wants some creeping plants on the island, so other than having to till up a spot or two and moving the mulch, that will be accommodated. So, but wait! There's more!

Moving around the house? I like how you snuck that in, Ken. Must be good nursing care to give us no complaints! I know those first days are uncomfortable, but every time you walk a little, it feels so good (even if it hurts). I was so happy the day my knee broke over on the stationary bike I had picked up.

I'll be waiting a few more MONTHS on the Kings I broke down and ordered. Waited until my SS check would cover it, and by then, back order time! Looks like a fall project for a March order!

But my son gave me a couple cool presents for Father's Day! He and the wife are always worried that someone is going to steal my trouble bag or bungie cords, so I got a cool locking tailgate handle. And since it's got a knockout for the OEM camera (not going to spendy that!), I found a match for the one I have up front that works well, and I think I'm going to cobble that in there, and replace the license plate frame cam.

    20210620_101923.jpg

And because "that's how it works", what should pop up in the TX Classified thread, but this Decked system I have been looking for a deal on! Almost half price, and it will be mine when I pick it up Friday (as in Friday).

Spray gun. Some are made for tight spaces.

I usually make a temporary booth out of 1x’s and clear plastic, with a heavier tarp floor. It also keeps dust out between coats

Tyvek suit, gloves, goggles and respirator. And I’m good to go.

When the jobs done everything thing but the spray gun and respirator go in the trash.

    No sir.
It was a spur of the moment present for my wife’s Birthday.
I had the idea to do this with the center section to flip up like a center console for
Some storage and usb power to charge things while sitting.
But with the price of lumber now it would have cost me the same to buy materials
As it was just to purchase.

    So I did a thing.

    The chair required two coats.

I wanted a stucco type finish on the chair arms
So what I did was after the first coat on the arms
    I used this.
    1C8295E6-F421-415B-94E9-00EFCD91E353.jpg

And ran it over the stain once every min while it was drying.
Then put another roller coat on and did the same thing.
    9AF7CDD6-CFFC-41A9-8B0F-819C3B421618.jpg
now just to fill in the screw holes and the unreachable edges
    This afternoon and we’re golden.
