Except clearly they're not losing in the end. Those dealerships are remodeled regularly and not often you hear about them closing.

Not closing down doesn’t mean profitable, the dealer group I was in owned 13 stores and only 2 of the service department do more than breaking even.

Exactly.... and when times are hard, they cry... It's coming boys. Inflation is starting to runaway. We might see $80,000 SR5 and you'll need to beg your boss for a raise so you can eat at McDonalds.

Remember hundreds of dealerships that were closed in early 2000s?

It would behoove folks to study what happened behind the Iron Curtain in the late 80', early 90s.
And then look at US today. We are on the brink of hyperinflation.

I wouldn’t even cross water deep enough to enter my cab in my 25 year old 4Runner (which is a trail rig), much less my $40K+ brand new Tacoma! Why anyone would trash a new truck like that and turn it into a 4wheeling shitbox when there are so many great older Toyotas out there to make into trail rigs is beyond me. More dollars than sense I suppose.

I got a fair deal, considering the market, in the beginning of April. DBC OR SB, Silver. 38,500. Sticker was 40 and change. Been buying from them since 1996 so they worked with me. They have had one truck on the lot since I bought mine. Everyone they get in now is pre-bought.
On a funny note, I drove one of my FJ40's in to pick up my tags. Younger sales guy say's "Nice jeep"...WTF...Lol. One minute to pick up my tags, 20 minutes to explain Landcruiser history..
