I have a 2019 Sport with an aftermarket Pioneer 4400 NEX and locking tailgate mod, and the rear view camera is flickering. It’s not a consistent error, but nothing I’ve tried has fixed it. I checked all connections behind the head unit, in the tail gate, and under the passenger side of the truck, and can’t find what’s causing the issue.
I attached a video showing the flickering, it’s driving me crazy trying to fix it, and I’m pretty
sure toyota won’t help because of the aftermarket head unit. I appreciate any help you guys can give, thanks!

Send a support ticket to pioneer. Chances are it's the head unit.

^+1. the first step is to isolate whether it's a head unit or camera problem. i'm not extremely familiar with how tolerant pioneers are for video signal issues, so my first guess with the way it's flickering, it looks like it's going to be either the power supply to the camera(causing it to reboot and essentially 'restart' the image), or in the head unit. though i have seen some monitors that are less tolerant of a low video signal input do something similar.

so the very first thing i would test would be to make sure that the camera is getting the full 6 volts.

the second thing you can test is to connect another video source like a dvd player to the reverse input to see if it repeats with a different source.

and the third thing i would test(last because it'll likely be the biggest pain) would be to connect the camera to a different screen to see if it acts the same.

if you were near chicago, i've got some video testing equipment from a previous job, i could pretty easily tell you if it was a camera or a head unit issue, but from your profile pic, it appears you're some distance away ;)

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it. I don’t have much in terms of gear/tools to test it, but so far I’ve replaced the camera, and still had flickering. I have a front camera installed so I swapped that to the rear input and still had flickering, while the rear camera in the front input was good, so that eliminates the camera or wiring up the head unit correct? It’s gotta be the pioneer? Or at least the rear camera input of the pioneer
