This week's taco project was blacking out all chrome. I got some plasti dip and did the grill surround and all emblems. It was easier and better than I expected actually. Only one small mistake from removing the tape on the grill surround and a little scratch in the paint trying to peel out the center of the O on one the drivers side. All in all very satisfied. All the videos online were very helpful. I decided to bedline the chrome bumper caps to give more durability than dipping. I found that removing the tail light and the small cowl below it made the dreaded metal clip a breeze. I sanded the caps with 220 grit until it was uniformly cloudy. Couple coats and called it good. I love the texture of it. Very fine grit almost like fine sand, and the uniformity of it throughout the paint is impressive. Total cost was maybe $25 and it was an afternoon well spend. upload_2021-6-23_15-17-48.jpg

Your taco sounds like my ex wife on Christmas.

Good lookin rig! Black is way better than chrome. Especially those bumper caps.

Usually I’m not a fan of plasti-dip type paints, but that looks really good.

I totally agree with you. I have a hunch I will end up going that way in the future. Or might sand it down and bedline it like I did the bumper caps.
