I'm short. I have to pull the drivers seat way forward. When I do this the seat blocks the center console latch and it drives me nuts cause I have to jam my hand between the seat and the console to open it. Anyone done anything to modify the console so the latch isn't on the side, or have ideas how I can solve this (kind of dumb) problem?

    Stock for now.. maybe
Maybe you can just take the latch mechanism (spring?) Apart/off so lid will open freely. Then you could just lift from the front. I'm not around my truck so I can't inspect

It’ll spring open if you just remove the latch, not hard but it won’t stay down well.

I replaced it, mine was holding it closed but was missing the spring and the housing wouldn't retain the button portion so it kept falling out when I opened it.

The spring goes over that pin in the center.

You could take it apart and mount an extension on the outer button portion either up or forward, whichever is less in your way. It would act like a lever sort of the way those flush mount door handles work.

I don’t think you’d have to thumb the button, it’s a pretty light press so just pulling on the tab, in theory, would work.

@bsqtch you Should have the info you need now. Remove latch then you can put a counterweight on the lid to keep it closed.. or continue dismantling to take the spring out of the hinge.
Let us know what you do

I hadn’t thought of the weight on top, that’s a good idea.

Yeah, I was thinking some double sided tape or something with proper heft to keep it closed. placed on the inside roof of console. Kind of Flat so I doesn't take up much room.

A couple gold coins would probably do it lol

I was working with a plumb bob today so that popped in my head first

There’s plenty of room under the lid to fit a weight of some kind.

If you set a bracket slightly proud of the latch button with a spacer, and routed a lever around to the front you could just press it and it would depress the button as well. As long as the material you use isn’t flexible so it doesn’t just bend when you press it.

It may interfere with the seat being as close as it is though.

Could you remove the latch and add some Velcro strips in between the lid and main console body?

You could remove the latch and mount a cabinet latch inside to keep it closed. Just lifting the lid from any point will open it and the pressure of the latch keeps it closed when shut. Might be slightly backwoods, but it would do the job.

They also make a magnet version, although it may not hold as well.

Oh dang these are way better ideas than I would have ever come up with on my own, thanks y’all. Definitely gonna ponder on it and I’ll report back when I get something working.

If all'ya'all's lookin for heavy weight to stick inside the lid, goto your local tire shop & ask for some tape weights. If you ask nicely, they may even give you some for free.
