Broke the handle on my antique scraper/edger.

    20210624_094357.jpg

Drilled out the rivet. (No, @StayinStock, those are not Hey Dudes  )

    20210624_100205.jpg

Had a tapered broomstick that I cut the taper off of and used these screws instead.

    20210624_114242.jpg

Then cleaned the fireplace and pulled up the SLATE :frusty: tile hearth that was not mortared or glued. I hate people.

    20210624_114222.jpg

Found all this is the ashes.

    20210624_114225.jpg

The wood the previous occupants left. The circled bit is what is left of a treated :frusty: 4x4. Tons of creosote on the firebox and flue.

Now currently prepping to finish painting the lower kitchen cabinets before the house warming party on Saturday.

Haven't needed to get pulled out, but have done a fair bit of the pulling. Helping out a trophy truck on the clock was a highlight. Got bogged in some gnarly loose sand.

DISLIKE..unless something dire happened, this is inexcuseable. Happened to me internally at my career, I applied and got no reply at all.

Externally in my 20s I went on the interview from hell..to the point where if I did half of what the interviewer did to me I would have been ashamed of myself.

I got to work, where I check my work email, and she had sent me an email before our arranged time asking to reschedule. She apologized but the damage is done. I politely responded that I am leaving for vacation tomorrow and that she can remove me from her candidate list. What she doesnt know is that I didn't actually want that job, I just want to keep the pencil sharpened for something bigger on the horizon.

Not ideal but if it was sent with a reasonable amount of time that's one thing..the fact you told me this is #2 really sounds poor; that is of course, if something dire didn't happen such as a car accident. Was this internal or external? Poor regardless of your answer of course

It's external, she obviously has my number, why not call to ask if she can reschedule? I had already mentioned I work second shift, I would have to do the interview before I go to work. The work would be pretty dang cool, but you have to draw the line at being stood up twice right??

Yup either a call or an email to your personal address (if you listed it on your contact/resume). And agreed that would give me a bad taste.

Long ago I went for an interview with a financial services company. I showed up 10 minutes early..nice suit, haircut, no earrings. I checked in with the receptionist and waited. 15 minutes past the scheduled time the receptionist was aghast I hadn't been tended to and walked me down to the interviewer's office, opened the door to find the interviewer on her cell phone who waved me in. The receptionist apologized to me and looked embarrased.

7 minutes of blabbing about her vacation that weekend to her friend later, she turned to me..dressed to the nines in a spaghetti strap tank top, short shorts, and flip flops. I wouldn't show up for a minimum wage interview looking like she did and she was supposed to interview me.

Throughout the process she seemed very disengaged and not very interested in doing the interview, plus interrupted the process twice more for personal calls re said trip.

I got to the end and she opened the floor for my questions, of which I had a few. Each one she gave "I don't know" or "I'm not really sure" to, some of which were very basic about the compensation. No offer to look into it, nothing.

I received a letter a couple of weeks later from a higher up declining me for the role. I wrote them back thanking them for the opportunity and explained the above, mentioning the interviewer by name and the poor reflection she cast upon the organization as well.

My wife was still in school getting her Doctorate and I interviewed for a job at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. If I would have gotten it, it would have meant working all week then driving 5 hours home every Friday night, watch the kids over the weekend while she worked then drive 5 hours back to Rochester Sunday night to be able to work Monday morning. Needless to say, I wasn't terribly upset that I was their number 2.

On the plus side, being in an interview for the first time in 8 years with 8 people in the room made the next interview with only 3 people feel like a breeze!
Screw 'em. You'll find a better fit somewhere else.
