Mine is always installed this way. I had a lexus key that people inserted the opposite way and broke it over time

Think title of this thread should be " OCD callouts"

Buttons, always. Because it's facing up in my hand from unlocking the door and that's the natural direction to stick it in.

    this and that...
whatever way. i do admit though, it does look a little bit weird when the back of the key is facing toward the driver like in the first pic lol.

Never thought about this with my Tacoma given the key shape/layout, but having had an E46 M3 in the past it’s funny to see you made a point to put the key in that way because I did the exact opposite — had my thumb on the roundel side to turn it over. Felt more natural for me since older BMW keys typically have the same little indentation for the logo.

I’m as OCD as you can get, but I’ve never worried about which way the key goes it… UNTIL NOW! Thanks for pointing it out so I have something else to obsess over.:smack:

My previous 4wd was an old Isuzu Amigo. Soon after I got it I had a duplicate key made at Home Depot and that duplicate key would only turn the ignition if you inserted it one way. Do it the opposite way and it wouldn't turn. I found that out after I loaned it to a friend for a few days and they called to ask why the key I left them didn't work.
