I just got 2 other codes fixed and my truck threw yet another one. This is a different code though It is a P0402 the print off says "Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Excessive Detected".

While googling i came across this post that says a vacuum switch that tells the EGR when to activate. Any other ideas on what this code usually is on a tacoma?

I been researching this code and i have seen all kinds of answers for it. But i came across a youtube video of a guy testing the Vacuum Switching Valve and listening for a click. So i tried it and mine is dead so i ordered a new one AISIN VST-001

This truck has been reliable for years now all it does is throw codes. I hope this is the last of them for a while.

Is it a 3rz fe? Maybe a cracked exhaust manifold would have something to do with it throwing so many codes?

Yes it is a 2.7 3rz-fe. I am not a Toyota expert i just drive them i don't get involved with knowing every little thing about them like i do with jeeps. But this truck is a 2002 and it has dual cats so i think this truck has the header type manifold that is more crack resistant? I looked at it and i don't see any leaks and even had someone put their hand over the exhaust and didn't notice sound get louder from it. I think it was just some bad luck after cleaning the throttle body out. Even if i wouldn't have done that it would have thrown this code anyways since the valve is just dead. But a new valve from the dealer was about $115 and from Aisin it was only about $38 so it wasn't that expensive.

I got the Aisin VSV valve in the mail and put on today. The truck runs better and the light is out but i only drove it once i will update it in about a week.
