Noob Speaker question

Hey guys, long time member first time poster. I have a 2020 Dblc non jbl system. It’s my work truck so im the only one in it 95% of the time. I have all that I need to do a sound upgrade but wondering if there’s any point to power the rear speakers or even change them at all? I’ve changed the fronts and tweeters already and of course it needs a lil more bump. I have a 2 channel and a 4 channel LOC but still debating on wether to power the rears.

 

If you are amplifying, then yes, power the rear upgrade speakers

 

I keep the front speakers setup for the driver (me). The rear speakers are for the rear passengers. So no, not a pressing need to upgrade the rear speakers if its just you.

 

So I should just use the two channel LOC and just let the stock radio power of the rears? Is that a common way taco owners do it

 

I’ve been reading and watching videos and can’t seem to find a solution. I’m using the

$350 alpine ktp-445u universal power pack

alpine ktp-445u and can’t find where to tap the yellow wire to. I know it’s in the grey plug but which wire? I saw one member spice to a blueish wire but was not a good idea because it won’t allow the amp to shut off. Any ideas

 

Take it to a installer or find a friend/local with installation experience.

 

Stock radio doesn't put out enough wattage for rear speakers. I think it's like 6-7 watts

Ya from what I’ve read the harness is different. I ended up splicing the speakers wires. All is good just the yellow wire is confusing me

 

I changed to an aftermarket head unit and all new speakers. Now it sounds great , and the rear seat sounds just as good as the front. I thought I would also need a sub for bass, but with the Hertz Cento speakers I put in the doors, I can have much more bass than I need or want. Very happy with my sound now.

 

Changing the radio was what I wanted to do first. Now that my wife saw the mess I made, now she says “why didn’t u just change the radio”

 

Makes a huge difference with new speakers.

 

Just use radio power for the rears. They're just fill, and you don't want to take away from that stage you're trying to create with the fronts.
