The back-up camera display on my 2019 entune head unit is pretty crappy compared to a Rogue or a RAV4. I've adjusted the settings to their best. I wonder if it's the camera or the entune display, or both, that are sub-par. In bright daylight with most sun angles it is very hard to see versus the fairly vivid images in the Rogue and RAV4. Is there a polarizing film that can be applied or a small hood to attempt to block out overhead sun? Or does the camera need upgrading?

There's was just a thread on this last week, it was said that the camera has been the same piece of hardware and the HU is what's changing.

My 2016 is great, crystal clear.

As soon as I read this, I cleaned it. The weather is bright sunshine with high thin clouds. I fiddled with the brightness and contrast a little more, it's better but still glare-y compared to the Rogue and RAV4. It's like they have a saturation setting that my Tacoma is missing.

Just remember that the lens are plastic so extra care is needed when cleaning. I believe all backup camera lenses are plastic too.

I just changed out my head unit to an aftermarket and the backup display definitely didn't improve.
Fortunately, between the mirrors and the camera, I'm in no danger of running over anyone. I'm almost amused by it..

it there an adjustment to center the camera. when backing up to my trailer hitch the center is biased to the drivers side about 3-4 inches or so. not a big deal just annoying.

So what did you all do before they had backup cameras? Turn your darned head and look. Likely won't even take a single calorie. Don't say something dumb like the rearview is blocked. The trucks come with two, count them two, side mirrors.

my cousin brought in her minivan a few years back to the dealer. because she said the backup camera stopped working, so she could no longer back up.

apparently they no longer include rearview mirrors with vehicles anymore.

My wife’s MDX looks like 1080p compared to my Tacoma’s camera. I don’t know what it is but it sucks compared to others. It works but it’s definitely not as clear and crisp as other cars. That includes the front and mirror cameras as well.

I assumed it was the display and not the cameras but who knows.

i could be mistaken, but i believe all backup camera's are composite video, meaning they're a standard 480x640 pixel resolution.

perhaps it's the glare of the license plate bulbs making it look crappy to you?
