That is a heck of a find! I should go to Goodwill more often. Except I certainly don't need more stuff...

That's a decent starter setup for anyone, never mind a 7 year old. You're a good uncle, Greg!

You know what's better than drinking the last Cheerwine?

Drinking the last Cheerwine when you're sweaty after mowing and getting the bikes ready for the trip.

I had several Maytag engines and a John Deere 1 1/2 hit and miss at one time, sold them all except for this 1939 Maytag 72 twin. It runs the best out of all of them I’ve had.

You guys like old engine stuff. I’ll have to post a pic of the bronze placard from a white blakeslee early 1900’s engine I found on my old childhood property. I was visiting the property in St. Louis for the first time since my childhood. The property had recently been graded and the house bulldozed, I found it in the dirt. I remember finding a lot of neat old items in that dirt while growing up.

Had a really sweet Model 92, but sold it to a fellow who had a beautiful Maytag washing machine.

My shop has an old Miller Dial Arc 250 in storage and I might buy it to make it my own if I can convert it to HF so I can learn to tig aluminum with it. I think my boss wants $400 for it. Would I be better off getting a budget HF rig from Amazon? Can I even convert it to HF?

I restored an old Maytag washer years ago and sold it. I’ll see if I can find some pictures.

I have no idea but my guess is it would be cheaper to get a new one.

I don't know a lot about welders but tend to agree with creed on better off buying new. I had a inherited Lincoln DC250 and traded it to one of the welder dudes at work and he loves it (it was like new condition).
If your not needing to HF weld right away, I'd also suggest save for a not so budget unit.
Goodmorning creed and shop friends :pccoffee:

Thoughts are with those in Florida disaster, news saying nearly everyone there knows someone affected.

I started on this last night. I was shorted a 1/4-28 bolt to put the handgrip on but found a bolt an turned that into a slotted/hex hybrid fastener. Then I threw in the towel because I couldn't get the hammer pin in. Woke up this morning and right away figured out if I took the safety off the trigger would push down and let the holes line up.20210627_081049.jpg

Found some pictures. I bought this washer at an auction for $50 with no engine. Took it all apart and you guessed it, had it all powdercoat painted. Sold it several years ago for $500
