What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Oh yeah just a wide angle so I could get the whole truck in the pic where I was at.

 

Saturday I replaced my drivers side wheel bearing. Man, what a pain in the ass. First... the old wheel bearing was a b*tch to remove. The axle was like stuck inside the wheel bearing. I watched the TRQ youtube video as a guide and he like used a center punch on the axle to free it. That did NOT work so I struggled and did that numerous times while also banging on the wheel bearing itself. It FINALLY came loose. Then, when putting the new one on the axle like wouldn't go into the new wheel bearing easily. So first go around I was tightening the four bearing bolts and it was just pushing the axle inward with it (hopefully I didn't damage the inner axle to bearing seal. So i removed the four bolts, lined the axle up, put the axle nut on to keep it from just pushing it inward... then did this game of tightening the four bolts, tightening the axle nut, tightening the four bolts, tightening the axle nut until it slowly and finally worked.

So the reason I replaced the bearing was because during my last alignment the shop said it needed to be replaced. I figured i'd do it myself instead of pay them. But, throughout the process i didn't really see any reason why they thought it was going bad? Is there any reason to keep my old wheel bearing as a spare or is there something i'm missing here? It didn't make any grinding noise, no slop, etc. Truck has 82k on it but i also run 3/4" spacers.

 

Sorry I am just seeing this... They are Bolt on Trail Gear sliders that I had welded on instead.

I ordered them begining of April during a group buy on here. Received them end of May. It was about a 7 week turnaround for mine which have lumbar support and heating pads, custom logo.

 

First oil change w the RCI Skid on. Went well!

 

if youre referring to the gap thats normal. my 2012 has the same shit with my trail gear stinger front bumper. you can only tell if youre looking for it lol

 

No, I'm not talking about the gap. On most 12+ specific bumpers they take into account the triangle shaped area, where as pre 2.5 gen are flat. It's a non issue for fitment, super minor issue for looks. A 12+ won't fit on a pre 12, but it does work the other way

 

Did the 3ish quart transmission fluid drain/refill. Swapped out the 5mm hex overfill plug for a 14mm drain plug because fook that fookin hex plug.

 

I love the Map LIghts on with Dome Light mod. The best mod I have done, and the one requiring the most skill and patience.

Painted the cap last week. Turned out great.

 

Started pulling the clear bra off.

 

So I have had this horrible metal on metal squeak coming from my front end for a month now and wasn't able to track it down when I wasn't on the trail. This weekend it got real bad and I had my buddy look under it while I jumped on the sliders. So my SPC UCA's are about a year and a half old and it sounds like it is coming from the bushings. Anyone had issues with SPC bushing making a terrible sound over bumps? I am thinking I'll just pull the bolt and clean it up and see if that helps but I don't know if it will.

 

I have not had any issues with mine. Do you have SPC the grease able ball joints?

 

Ball joint yes but not at the connecting bolt which is where it seems to be coming from.

 

OK. Well it certainly wouldn't hurt to do what you mentioned and pull the bolt, clean it and throw a little grease before putting it back in. Then try and repeat the noise like you did before.
