Just installed some Hellwig helper springs on my 2020 TRD OR to help out with some leveling when our trailer is hitched up. Install went great and took the rig out this past weekend. When we got back I noticed that the helper springs had gouged the frame rail.

I've attached the worst damage but both sides front and back of the springs had some contact with the frame. I know this has been an issue and noted one Amazon review where they had the same issue.

My question is am I not tightening the rear u-bolts enough to get them further away from the frame? I was probably right at max payload but I still find it hard to believe that would cause that much bottoming out. I figure I'll have to grind down the areas that come in closest contact with the frame. Any thoughts?

Eibach stage 1 lift kit, torch off road AAL, Mishimoto intake pipe, K&N drop in filter, PEDAL commander. 55w HID’s FUEL off road 18x9’s. EIBACH UCA’s and Reservoir shocks coming soon.
If your bottoming out I’d suggest bigger bump stops or check if you’re payload is evenly distributed on your trailer.

I know this thread is pretty old but wanted to update the information. Just got off the phone with Hellwig customer support and talked with a tech. They said this frame rub was due to misaligned installation of the spring. The back was angled inward slightly. They have fielded a few questions about this issue and when aligned correctly at installation it is not an issue. Hope that helps folks. I like the idea of the adjustability of these springs because little else on the market allows for that correction depending on your variability of loads. The airbags do but to me they are less durable and potential more fragile in an off roading setting. JMHO.
