I have a 2006 V6 DB 4x4 OR and the previous owner added a 7-pin harness but I need some help with it. I don't know if it was a dealer add-on on third-party. All I really know is that 2006 year models didn't have a 7-pin wire harness so it had to be added.

    1. In the first picture (brake controller harnes.jpg), you can see I found where the brake controller used to plug in but I have no idea what this plug is compatible with? Is it a standard meaning I could just buy a Tekonsha or similar brand and plug in?

    2. In the second picture (rear harness.jpg), I am trying to determine if I can simply replace this part of the previous install. The actual receptacle was damaged when I was rear-ended.

Any and all advice is welcome.

Looks like you have a factory tow package, Hopkins makes a plug in pigtail to wire a brake controller to, they also make a 7 way universal plug that should fit where the stock one was with little modification. You could try to find that harness with the trailer plug in a salvage yard or buy it from Toyota but it's kinda expensive for what it is.

Thanks! You're right. It threw me because the connector in the cab for brake controller was definitely not OEM. I visited my local Truck N Trailer and they happily cut the OEM trailer socket off and connected to a new 4-pin / 7-pin socket. According to the associate I worked with, the brake controller connector is pretty standard even if not factory. I had them install a brake controller while they were at it and now I'm getting started towing a Hi-Lo
