Two week healing process. Looked like shit for a bit, but healed nicely when stitches came out.

Thanks . I made an offer of $50k . The building definitely needs to go . It’s on a concrete slab and it is nasty . Been vacant for 2 years and the owner just died in NYC where she lived . It’s now in her attorney’s hands . Nobody knows what kind of septic system it has either and there is no survey o_O what a cluster f@#k . It will be interesting to see if I get a call back . These real estate agents are scum . Always tell you they have an accepted offer but still show you the place .

    Stock. SR5 Package #2.

I'll try not to run afoul of anything political here...
...but I've read a number of articles on California's forestry practices.

Two things stuck out for me:

    1) A strong aversion there to logging, any logging.
    2) No (or highly restrictive) fuelwood cutting by private persons.

    Here there's selective logging.
Foresters will mark off an area to be thinned, and auction the cutting rights.
The logging leaves quite a lot of tops and large limbs on the ground.

Here's where private enterprise  comes in.
Once the contract expires, anything dead that the loggers leave is fair game to anyone who cares to get a permit.
The permit was $20 per 1 1/2 cords (a very nominal sum), the last time I got one.
The permit lasts for 2 weeks, and nothing stops you from cutting more than you specified.
Ain't nobody counting, if you know what I mean. :anonymous:

Though you stand a small chance of them checking whether you do have a permit.
If a ranger happens by, which is infrequent.

    Here's the thing:
Guys getting fuelwood are restricted to the gravel roads and as far on either side as they want to go...on foot.
I used to use a wheelbarrow.
Sometimes you can get a little way up a logging road, but the terrain is extremely rugged. After a while they block off the logging road.
In addition to the leftovers from logging, there are always large dead trees here and there and blowdowns along the roads.
Living trees are off limits, of course.

The result is that the forest roads and logging roads form very effective firebreaks, at no cost to the taxpayer.
    The deep woods remain undisturbed.

Of course, conditions are different here.
Undergrowth is far more lush, and the ground under the leaves and moss never gets so dry as in California.
No prescribed burns are necessary, or at least, I'm unaware of any being done.

Once in a while at the end of a hot, dry Summer, there's a small forest fire started by lightning strike.
They never get enough traction to go anywhere.

Yes. I did one session of laser removal and may have needed one or two more sessions, a month between each. This was faster.
