What the ever loving... I paid $20k BRAND NEW for my 2005 SR5 in the fall of 2004!

 

Yeah, it's out of hand right now.

 

That’s insane. And there’s a good chance it’ll get worse. Six to twelve months to deal with the chip shortage and inflation on the way.

 

Anyone know why used cars are selling as much as new? I literally just checked my local Toyota dealer and they had a handful of new Tacomas going for like $35-42k, and when I checked the CPO box to add those to the list they were priced the same but like a few years older with obviously much more miles. Why would anyone buy a used Tacoma when you could get a new one for either the same price or a couple grand more?

 

It seems it's because people cannot get a new one. Dealers have no inventory, what they do have is spoken for. Plus these listings are in Hawaii so extra transporting costs. Check further into what your Dealers claim they have available.. many list vehicles that're in transit or spoken for.. they just want you to come talk to them. : )

 

How long does it take to drive from NC to HI? Will need a lift back if anyone is available. Of course I will reimburse gas and food.

 

I know a guy trying to build extra flying time in his Cessna 182. If you'll split the fuel costs he may be up for it.

 

Got to wonder if it’s a fake shortage.
