My apologies if this has been covered already. What is the story about corrosion resistance material that must be applied to the frame, by a dealer, in order to maintain warranty protection?

Not sure what or if it applies yet to your year, I'll let someone chime in there.

I have a 2010. Mine was inspected 3 years ago, passed, and received the CRC which was a black spray. I've heard there's a different kind used now but I cannot confirm.

End of April I discovered 2 holes in the passenger side rail on mine and brought it in, have had a rental since and it is getting reframed. My 2nd inspection would have been this Sept/Oct but I saw the holes when my exhaust hanger let go.

If you need it, get it. Failing to do so in the timeframe would void your 12 years and right to a second inspection before that time.

    Welcome aboard!

I don't think it voids anything, it just doesn't allow the frame replacement extension and inspection to be done on Toyotas dime if your ignore it. Your still get the original factory warranty, just not the extension on the frame itself.

If your smart, live in the salt belt, and plan to keep your truck many years....you'll take matters in your own hands to rust proof your frame and undercarriage. I wouldn't rely on on toyota or the dealer. When i took delivery last year i asked a similar question with the dealer telling me toyota has done their part already, its up to you to do yours keeping the chassis clean as possible during the winter months. I'd recommend spraying the frame down with crc, or cosmoline rp-342 before the winter hits. Even fluid film is fine as long as its reapplied every year.

Correct, hence my mention of the 12 years which is frame specific. Going through it right now with my 2010 that rotted
