    Hello all,

Truck is less than a year old, and the 12 o'clock position on the steering wheel is beginning to deteriorating and peel away.
This is where I hold my steering wheel 99% of the time, and I've been told I have pretty rough hands (see: man hands), but wearing down like this, this soon seems a bit premature.
Don't believe this happened at all on my 2016 with 60k on it.
    Thoughts? Warranty issue? SOL?20210630_164757.jpg 20210630_164802.jpg

I bought my truck with 36K miles and it was pretty bad. I don't ever hold the wheel there and the truck is garage kept and it's gotten worse.

My guess is you'll be SOL. It may come down to the dealer, but most dealers will consider this premature wear from "improper" use. Be that rough hands, lotions, bug sprays, etc. I would still attempt to get it warrantied, but don't be surprised when it's denied.

Assuming it gets denied, there are some quality aftermarket options. You can look into leather "covers" that get sewn on... or there's a variety of aftermarket wheel replacements on eBay that seem to be of decent quality.

    Good luck!

Steering wheel replacement (your rough hands won't wear this one out)

There's a lot of similar options on eBay, if you search "Toyota Tacoma Steering Wheel" and sort from most expensive to least.

It's the acids in our sweat that does this. Wrecks camera lenses too.

But this, along with some Grey Poupon should help...
