I would suggest NOT getting that. Compatibility with other Radios will really be lacking. Especially since it doesn't have the Privacy Functions.

I picked up a variation of the this one recently. Was running it Saturday out at Moses Lake. 50 Channels covering all the Major GMRS/FRS Frequencies and extras, as well as the privacy codes which help a TON.

EDIT: Adding this from their manual:

I'm not sure I'm tracking, it has CTCSS/DCS privacy codes, though only 30 versus the 38 on the Midland, and 11 of them are taken up by DCS codes. Regarding compatibility, are you referring to the fact the Midland has 50 channels and the Retevis only has 30?

    upload_2021-6-30_15-44-41.jpg
    upload_2021-6-30_15-45-0.jpg

    EDIT:
The chart you posted shows that the Midland only actually has 22 frequencies loaded, though I supposed those are just the pre-programmed ones? So you get 28 empty channels to program. The Retevis comes with 30 pre-loaded, and is re-programmable as well. It also has a frequency mode where I can manually punch up a freq.

I'm completely out of my depth here, so please poke holes in my logic if I am wrong.

Quite a few things at this point..
Photo dump from my WABDR trip. No particular order because I'm lazy and had to drag and drop these in all at once.

Is this the official itinerary yet, or still pending? Add to first post?

Did a little section of 6 today went in at Loop loop north bound and bailed off at Boulder Cr. and headed back home. I made it about halfway up to the China Wall and my wife bailed out of the truck and took off walking. **Edit talked to my buddy from Omak and he said I was on a RZR trail and not the road to the China Wall.

    Folks,

I need to sincerely apologize for my absence. I’ve had some things come up recently that have required my attention. Unfortunately, I will not be able to lead / join this trip. I certainly hope this doesn’t discourage any of you from going, as I think there are still several folks from last year’s run that plan on joining. And it seems some have already made some runs.

I would encourage you to touch base with one another, to coordinate if you still plan on making the trip.

Again, my apologies. I’m focusing on other priorities at the moment. Not excuse for ghosting this thread, just the matter of things. Please be well and I wish you all the best. I plan to be back online once things are sorted.

We need a list of dates and people who are going. I’ll be joining the group on 8/1 probably at Packwood.

I'm still in for all the sections.

I can keep a running list of people if everyone chimes in with when they'll join the trip.

Should we go with the schedule proposed below?

    Attendees:

    1) @Shadowhunter (8/1 - End)
    2) @stonylaroux (7/31 - End)
    3) @WrecklessAbandon (8/3-8/5)
    4) @irritable_vowels 7/31 - End)
    5) @Tacodog (7/31 - 8/5)
    6) @EK99civic (8/1 - 8/3)
    7) @vecdran (7/31 - 8/3)
    8) @colin1qk (8/1 - 8/5)

These are just the people I could confirm dates from in the comments (not including tentative or maybes). I'll update the list if more chime in. Also, let me know if I have your dates wrong or you can no longer attend. This is assuming the proposed schedule of 7/31 - 8/5 in the comment before. End dates of 'End' indicate a willingness to go on @Shadowhunter's extra leg through Hart's Pass after Section 6.

Looks good to me. @stonylaroux Maybe make a separate thread so you can own the first post and edit as needed?

Sorry to hear that man, I hope everything works out for you in the end.
