I recently picked up a slightly used 2021 SR AC 4x4 4 cyl Utility Package and am setting it up for some light off-roading and adventuring, want to make sure I'm prepared when I go exploring the California mountains/deserts. I'm a car nut but from the BMW world so bear with me when it comes to off-road knowledge, this forum so far has been an amazing source of information.

A few things I recently added/purchased to aid when going off the beaten path:

    - Toyo Open Country A/T III
    - Eaton Detroit TrueTrac LSD
    - Maxtrax recovery boards, kinetic rope, soft fuse shackles
    - Smittybilt air compressor
    - Billet 3-piece off-roader's kit

It dawned on me that I need recovery points, it seems the ARB one is well respected. In the event I do need to use it, can I attach my soft fuse shackle directly to the recovery point, or do I also need to purchase a metal shackle to attach first to the ARB recovery point?

Also trying to figure out a solution for a rear recovery point as I don't have a tow hitch, any recommendations are welcome, thanks!

The edge on it are not rounded. While I think you would be fine to do recoveries on it, long term I think it would be begin to do damage to a soft shackle. It's designed to work with a hard shackle.

Much appreciated, what size shackle do you recommend? I see there is 10mm, 16mm, and 19mm.

Not sure, but here's the ARB instruction card. Whatever is "standard" I'm sure.

Interesting, I didn't know they designed it that way. Pretty sure that's a 3/4 shackle. So around 19mm?
