ABS and SRS multiple codes are these systems shared by a single component

2007 cclb TRD sport 300+k km.

So I was helping a friend by towing his boat to the lake, the trailer wiring must have been bad and fed power back into the truck somehow.

First sign of problems was the ignition #1 fuse blown. Easy fix.

Now here is where I get over my head;
I used the obd2 jumper method and wrote the codes as the blinked at me.

ABS:
11, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 41
Srs:
35, 37, 51, 43, 32

Is there a common component that could have failed? Is the wiring to be suspect? I can't even wrap my head around how to go about diagnosing all of these.

If you replaced the blown fuse, clear the trouble codes, (the computer hold onto the codes until the next test cycle for those modules) drive it for a bit and see if they come back. Assuming the issue was with the trailer wiring, the codes should not come back. If the codes do come back, you should have fewer codes that now the ignition fuse is replaced. That will give you a better idea of what is actually going on.

 

Hey! Thanks! I have a simple Bluetooth code reader, but I'd does not read the abs or srs systems. Is there another way to clear theses codes? I have cleared the CEL, left the ground off overnight and even cleaned and re-plugged all connections to the ecu.

Is it possible that if I fed power into the system that I fried each component?

 

Anything is possible… Go to AutoZone, or your favorite auto parts store. Most of them or scan codes for free. The good guys will reset codes for you even ABS and airbag… If there is a fault, it will reset.

 

I’m like you, I suspect the trailer lights were bad or wired incorrectly.
That 10A fuse goes to all the systems you mentioned.
Likely fed through to the ABS module. I’d clear them all.
Then see what happens. You have to clear the ABS and SRS codes.
I don’t think they clear on their own.


And don’t tow your friends boat until the problem is fixed.

I’ll start by saying, a codes scanner capable of clearing ABS and SRS will be much easier than the jumper wire method.

Thank you all! TNshooter you are very kind to help. I will give it a shot, and place an order for a proper diagnostic scanner. Trailer is sitting until October at least, and he is going to pay me to rewire his trailer and for any parts I need to fix the problems.

Which has me down to one item/code that is intermittent and I can't figure out what the hell. I can clear it, comes right back. Or goes away on vacation for a week! Who knows! Life is a mystery.

 

Hey!!! Good news, thank you for all the guidence. After doing some more research and tracking the srs wiring again, I determined that all of the srs wiring travels to the clock spring on the steering wheel. Found a new OEM on eBay for under 170$ cad. Takes 15 minutes to change. Problem solved!!!
