I have a 2019 Tacoma. We only got one actual "key" from the dealership and it doesn't work in the tailgate! Suggestions?

If you have push to start. There is a key inside the key fob (remote). Try that key.

That key is not "works either way". Flip it over and try it.

The “key” is for the glove box. The hidden key inside the fob opens the tailgate and doors.

Install a remote tailgate lock and you won't need a key;)

I have a '17 and a valet key that works driver door, glovebox, and tailgate. And 2 fob keys that work driver door, glovebox, and tailgate. I don't know if this method would be same for her '19 Tacoma.

@scrndoor if you can't get it working, take it to Toyota service dept and the advisor will walk you through and they will make sure those keys are working for you.

Well everyone, thanks for your suggestions. Calling the police, not so much! lol. The keys in the fobs do appear to work, but we'll need a little WD40, and the single key does work for the glove box. Good idea about the remote tailgate lock, might look into that too.

Pop n Lock is one of my favorite mods. Easy to do and adds tremendous usage value to the truck. I'm surprised the '19's don't have it factory.

Get the OEM kit, plug and play rather than vampire taps.

Some of us had to do this before there was an OEM kit. I have fallen behind on the technology apparently.
